Field Toad Camo by P1G-Tac®
Camouflage patterns, same to other areas of combat gear, are evolving rapidly these days. In the last decade, tactical gear industry was struck by sequential waves of Multicam, A-TACS, PenCott and Kryptek is getting up to speed. Nice to see that our national tactical gear manufacturers have also joined to the world’s initiative in finding performing adaptive camo patterns. There is a Ukrainian P1G-Tac® brand, which has developed their own Jaba line of patterns not so long ago.

Frankly speaking, I have been interested in its development since the early announcements dating back to 2012. Now in 2014 by P1G-Tac® already has two camo patterns in Jaba family:
- Jaba Poliova or Field Toad Camo by P1G-Tac® – camo pattern with dominant light-green colors, suitable for field & forested areas during the high solar activity period (usually early spring — end fall).
- Jaba Stepova or Prairie Toad Camo by P1G-Tac® – camo pattern with dominant greenish-brown & tan palette, suitable for arid & mountain regions in the mid-season periods (spring, fall).
Field Toad Camo by P1G-Tac® is shown in the photo above, and, as you may see, this is the analog camo with light background, and five layers of color stains above it. Stains in the each following layer are getting darker and smaller in size, thanks to what pattern is rich in details and crisp up in close and is getting lighter in the distance. This combination of stains and colors makes Field Toad Camo by P1G-Tac® adaptive to the environment. I won’t bore you describing what you’d be able to see on your own, since we are moving to how this pattern is working in the field.
For this experiment to be more or less objective, we have selected leveled scenery typical for our region with the area rich in grass, shrubs and small trees.
We have also zeroed zoom and brightness level for the camera mounted on the tripod so that the image represents a typical bright July morning about 10:00 without zoom and color adjustment.
You would see me wearing Mabuta MK-2 Suit by P1G-Tac® in the frame on different backgrounds, distance and lighting conditions. To give you a hand I would leave hints about approximate distance, stance, lighting.
As you may also see Field Toad Camo by P1G-Tac® blends in with bright field vegetation perfectly:
While not contrasting noticeably with shaded trees in the background:
